The office is the office and as such necessitates professional attire. Those employees who do not dress professionally are basically shooting themselves in the foot. They will be looked down upon, misunderstood, and likely passed over for promotions simply because of what they wear. You might want to display your personality and individuality in the way you dress at work, and that’s fine. You just need to find a way to tie in the clothes you like and the level of professionalism your job requires. he following pointers should help.
Fingertip or Longer
Women who wear skirts to work should always do the fingertip test. If the skirt is shorter than the fingertips then it should not be worn. Typically, a skirt or dress that is just above the knees is short enough. It’s about looking professional, not sexy, when you are at work so keep that in mind.
Colors
Most colors are appropriate for work, however you may want to avoid really loud colors on a regular basis. Accents of bright colors is a great way to go, but bright green suits probably isn’t.
Cleavage
Just say “no’ to cleavage at work. Again, the idea is professionalism, not looking sexy. When you are off work, feel free to show off your cleavage. At work you should always have your shirt buttoned high and keep the “ladies” off display. When you show too much cleavage your co-workers will be looking down rather than at your face and what you have to say. In most cases, you will be perceived as less intelligent and will not receive raises or promotions as quickly as your more conservative peers. You can still look attractive at work and show your personality, just try not to put your sexuality on display.

I’ve never heard of the “fingertips” before, but that’s a great way. I do think that could still be considered a little short – most employers I’ve spoken with say you shouldn’t go much higher than an inch or two.
